Canon USA & Affiliates Sr. Specialist, Training & Development in Melville, New York

Overview

Canon U. S. A., Inc. is currently seeking a Sr. Specialist, Training and Development (Specialist, Train & Dev Sr). The person filling this position acts as a training and education resource for the business unit, regional, and subsidiary HR and business managers. He/she conducts training sessions covering specific areas such as new employee onboarding, on-the-job training, systems training, leadership development and others as needed by our Canon employees. The position requires delivery of training in physical classroom locations and in virtual classroom settings where learners are in remote locations. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Learning and Talent Management.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates, schedules, and administers training programs and calendars

  • Works closely with Canon’s internal business and HR management to ensure the effective delivery of high quality programs

  • Measures the effectiveness and impact of training programs, including the application of new skills

  • Acts as primary training and education resource for Canon Americas employees, while demonstrating effective questioning skills and techniques and responding appropriately to learner needs for clarification and feedback

  • Plans, organizes, coordinates, and communicates the national training schedule to ensure consistent and professional marketing and communication of all programs

  • Observes training classes and workshops conducted by other designated instructors in order to evaluate effectiveness of instructor and curriculum content, and to provide quality constructive feedback

  • Obtains and directs consulting services to support the delivery of cost-effective training programs and services

Qualifications

  • BA or BS is preferred; a graduate degree in business, IO psychology, training or education is also preferred

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible training experience in a major corporate environment, or equivalent work experience

  • Strong platform, facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Abillity to travel up to 20%
