Canon USA & Affiliates Specialist, Public Relations in Melville, New York
Cutting edge technology company is searching for an energetic and creative Public Relations Specialist to promote brand awareness through news items, press releases, and public relations tools. Must have a passion for communication and the skill to identify and pull together elements from various sources to craft engaging stories. The Public Relations Specialist is responsible for building on the strong momentum of the company’s current public and media relations, by working directly with customers, media connections, and internal experts to increase overall engagement with Canon Solutions America through all communications channels. The ideal candidate has a positive attitude, a strong desire to see projects through to completion, and experience working in a corporate environment; is outgoing and social; enjoys traveling to both represent and promote the company at events; and thrives on collaborating with colleagues to achieve common goals.
Communicates daily with clients and the media to build a network of strong relationships.
Monitors the media, including newspapers, magazines, journals, broadcasts, newswires, and blogs, for PR opportunities.
Builds and maintains an editorial calendar which coordinates with company promotional activities and events.
Works closely with social media, marketing, and communications teams to ensure a consistent brand profile across all company platforms.
Proactively uncovers engaging stories and PR opportunities to increase the company’s share of voice in the marketplace.
Develops proposals to support customer PR activities through collaboration with account teams.
Researches, writes, and distributes press releases to targeted media.
Pitches and promotes news stories and features to industry and broad media.
Collates, analyzes, evaluates, and reports on media coverage.
Manages event logistics, including press conferences and promotional events.
Attends customer events and promotes them to the media and industry analysts.
Creates and distributes press kits.
Coordinates PR efforts with the communications team of our parent company, Canon U.S.A.
Handles Press Releases, Customer Spotlights, and news articles for internal and external publications.
Responsible for communication of all company announcements by pushing out to the media.
Reports on Share of Voice and analytics, including ROI.
Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, or journalism.
5 or more years of public relations experience.
Experience with media and corporate communications experience a plus.
Self-starter who works equally well independently and when collaborating with others.
Strong desire to see projects through to completion.
Established media contacts a plus.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Cision.
Possible travel for 20% to 30% for PR events.
