Canon USA & Affiliates Payroll Coordinator I in Melville, New York
Canon U.S.A., Inc., is seeking a Payroll Coordinator I to join our Human Resources Division located in Melville, NY. The Payroll Coordinator position is responsible for the administration of the payroll process, including: auditing time collection system records (WorkForce), auditing payroll data (PeopleSoft), calculating retro payments for payroll and benefits, maintaining federal, state and local tax records, maintaining direct deposit records, answering employee questions, and troubleshooting issues. This person relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Process new hires, terminations, status changes, tax changes, deductions, direct deposits, time sheet data, rate changes, retroactive adjustments and special pays; maintain vacation, sick leave and worker's compensation records; post entries to PeopleSoft. Work on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.
Review non-exempt employee time cards and time registers, verify and calculate hours worked to ensure employees are accurately compensated for time worked.
Enter all HR/Payroll changes (i.e. new hires, terminations, leave and return from absences, benefit enrollments and changes, direct deposits, employee taxes and general deductions), calculate all salary related adjustments and maintain proper authorizations for all changes to ensure records are accurate and up-to-date.
Respond to employee inquires. Perform various related clerical duties, as well as special projects as requested. Follow up with regional locations to obtain and/or clarify employee information. Various related clerical duties include Global Cash Card Funding, and employment verifications.
Requires a HS diploma (or equivalent), and related specialized training of less than 2 years.
1-3 years of payroll experience.
Strong attention to detail is required for this position, as are strong organizational and time management skills.
Strong MS office skills, intermediate excel is strongly preferred.
Payroll experience to include in house payroll processing helpful, with multiple deadlines.
Web based time keeping software experience preferred
